Breezy, cool conditions greeted the players at this year's Memorial Golf Tournament. But, as the morning progressed, the weather had warmed up and it ended up being a beautiful day. The team of Tony Fawl, Doug Gayer, Jack Rader and John Rader won a score card playoff with the team of Jamie Piper, Alan Porter, Kelly Sorenson and Chad Alexander for first place. Dennis Shaw had the closet to the pin on number 15, Jack Rader had the longest putt for the men on number 9 and Donna Viola won the same prize for the women. A big thank you goes out to the hole sponsors, as well as those who played in the tournament. Our club was well represented and you can all be proud of helpingmake this a successful event and to raise more funds to help the youth in the community.
August 9 was the date for the Optimist Memorial Golf Tournament this year. The weather was incredible for the time of year, with virtually no wind and very mild temperatures. Two teams shot 18 under par, with the team of James Nelson, Cliff Hawkes, Keaton Sorensen and Keith Janzen winning a score card playoff over the team of Jamie Piper, Tony Fawl, Treg Fawl and Chuck Singleton.
The event raised over $3,500 for the benefit of the youth in our community. A huge thank you goes out to the players on the 14 teams that participated, the hole sponsors who generously supported the event, and the fellow Optimist Club members who didn't play but helped out during the tournament. What a great way to honor our deceased members and to raise money to help the youth in our community.
